Post Graduation Plans:
Making it through the pandemic
Thesis:
"Semper Shadow" was a studio art honors thesis to commemorate Marine Scout Sniper, Kyle Lamoreaux, who took his life in August of 2019. A husband, father, and fighter, Lamoreaux became one more of the significantly high number of veteran suicides per year. By bringing Kyle’s story to light, I am reminding viewers of a larger problem at stake that remains largely invisible from our every day and the way we look at global US military involvement. My process involves engaging in conversations with my subjects, asking questions, and using photographs to begin piecing together a story. Using various media, including painting and printmaking, as well as other mixed media methods using ink, watercolor, fabric, and sand among other materials, I begin to form a complete portrait of my subject and the larger story they are a part of. By doing so, I tell a story filled with intricacies and complexities, and real-life issues that I want my audience to become aware of.
