Post Graduation Plans:
I was accepted to be a community health facilitator with the Peace Corps, but unfortunately, the pandemic has made it difficult for me to complete my service, so I am going to be serving with AmeriCorps at a health center in East Boston. After, I plan on taking a post bacc to complete the courses I have left to begin medical school!
Dartmouth activities and clubs important to my experience:
The Center for Social Impact was an essential part of my Dartmouth experience and ultimately became a home away from home. I was able to be a part of an Immersion trip to the Dominican Republic to work with an organization on educational equity through sustainability and alleviating poverty, was the Student Director for SEAD (an educational access program for first gen low income high school students in the upper valley), and I was able to travel to Canada for the Matariki Indigenous Student Mobility program. I immersed myself in social impact and developed a deeper passion for service learning and global equity. Another important part of my experience was doing research through Sophomore Scholars and Presidential Scholars in the Psychological and Brain Sciences department; I became a better student and learned how to conduct research in an ethical way. It also helped me to better understand my desire to pursue medicine. Finally, my sorority, Alpha Phi, was incredibly beneficial to my growth at Dartmouth. Not only was I able to become a better leader through serving on the Executive Board, but I was intellectually and emotionally challenged, learned how to interact with different spaces at Dartmouth, and was surrounded by an intelligent, inspiring group of women.
Favorite spot on campus:
The greenhouse in the life sciences center. It was a peaceful place for me to eat lunch, do homework, or reflect on my day, and the plants are stunning.
My time at Dartmouth:
When I first came to Dartmouth, I struggled with my FGLI identity, but as I found my place on campus, I realized how powerful my identity is. I now feel empowered by my identity, my truth, and journey at Dartmouth, and I feel honored to have been able to learn at Dartmouth alongside other inspirational first-generation students.
