Post Graduation Plans:
Preparing for graduate school and hopefully doing something to uplift my community in the meantime.
Thesis:
My thesis, titled "Predappio’s Casa Del Fascio: Fascist Monument to Museum" was submitted to the Art History Department. I focus on the fascist architectural patrimony of the Italian dictator Benito Mussolini’s hometown and it's almost-70-year-long doomed campaign to create Italy’s first museum devoted to the history of fascism. I trace how mismanagement of the country’s post-war narrative has culminated in rising neofascism, far-right rhetoric, and Euroscepticism. Emphasizing the political and psychological power of architecture along with the didactic value of the 21st Century museum, I explore whether exhibiting tragedy is a viable avenue for forestalling fascist nostalgia in an already polarized political climate.
Dartmouth activities and clubs important to my experience:
Hop Fellows, Italian drill instructing, Tabard, SigEp, DartBeat, Art History Presidential Scholars research
Favorite spot on campus:
The window desks in Sherman Stacks as the sun sets.
Something I will miss about being a Dartmouth student:
I will miss the incredible professors who have coaxed out the scholar in me. Never before has anyone put in so much effort into my personal growth until I came to Dartmouth and I will miss the close contact I have with these mentors, but I know it is only the beginning of my relationship with them.
