Funding for Graduate School
ABA LEGAL OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIPS
The ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarships are intended to encourage racial and ethnic minority students to apply to law school and to provide financial assistance to these students. The Scholarship Fund awards $5,000 of financial assistance annually to each scholarship recipient attending an ABA-accredited law school. An award made to an entering first-year student may be renewable for two additional years, resulting in financial assistance totaling $15,000 during his or her time in law school. Recipients will be selected based on their qualifications for the scholarship and not on the law school they plan to attend.
CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY RALES FELLOWSHIP
The CMU Rales Fellows Program provides graduate students with full tuition as well as a stipend to cover living expenses such as housing and health insurance. Fellows also benefit from an ecosystem of holistic opportunities to ensure their success as they work to develop into future STEM leaders, including comprehensive, cohort-based onboarding, dedicated career services, faculty mentoring, networking programs, and opportunities to build leadership skills in local and global communities. The Rales Fellow Candidacy Applications open for the following fall enrollment entry term on September 1.

CHARLES B. RANGEL INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS PROGRAM
The Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Program provides benefits of up to $95,000 over two years toward a two-year master's degree, arranges internships on Capitol Hill and U.S. embassies, and provides professional development and support activities for those who want to become Foreign Service Officers in the U.S. Department of State. Fellows may use the fellowship to attend any good two-year master's program in a U.S. institution to study an area of relevance to the Foreign Service, including international relations, public policy, public administration, languages, or business administration. At the end of the two-year fellowship, Fellows enter the Foreign Service of the U.S. Department of State. Applicants must be college seniors or graduates looking to start graduate school in the fall of the year they apply, have GPAs of at least 3.2, and be U.S. citizens.

DOLORES ZOHRAB LIEBMAN GRADUATE FELLOWSHIPS
The Dolores Zohrab Liebman Graduate Fellowships include an $18,000 stipend, plus tuition in any recognized field of study in the humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences (including law, medicine, engineering, architecture, or other formal professional training) and scholarly publications focusing on Armenian studies and culture.

GOVERNMENT OF IRELAND INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
The Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship (GOI-IES) programme supports high-calibre international students who wish to study for a master's, postgraduate diploma or PhD in Ireland. The programme is funded by the Government of Ireland in partnership with Irish higher education institutions (HEIs) and managed by the Higher Education Authority. Under the initiative, 60 scholarships are awarded each year for one year of full-time study. In order to be eligible for a Government of Ireland International Education Scholarship, applicants must have a domiciliary of origin outside the EU/EEA, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
ISLAMIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Since 2009 the Islamic Scholarship Fund has funded American Muslim scholars studying and working in fields with the greatest impact on public opinion and policy. Our scholarships range from $3,000-$10,000. Our goal: to improve negative portrayals of Muslims in the news, increase the number of Muslim policymakers, and invest in the creation of positive and engaging stories about American Muslims.
Eligibility:
- Muslim or active member of the Muslim community
- Enrolled full-time at an accredited university in the U.S. by August 2023; OR employed full-time in an ISF Supported Field and a part-time student at an accredited university in the U.S;
- An undergraduate (junior or senior) or of graduate standing (master's, PhD, or law degree)
- Studying an ISF-supported major
- Maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA
- A U.S. citizen, DACA recipient, or permanent U.S. resident
JAMES MADISON MEMORIAL FELLOWSHIP FOUNDATION
The James Madison Memorial Fellowship Foundation provides a college senior who intends to become a secondary-school American history, American government, or social studies teacher and who wishes to pursue a master's degree (not Ph.D) in the field of American history, political science, or education. One fellow will be chosen from each state based on the student's legal residence through a nationally administered competition.
Eligibility: U.S. citizen or national. Award up to $24,000 for two years of study toward master's degree. Required participation in the James Madison Foundation's Summer Institute on the Constitution at Georgetown University.
KATE NEAL KINLEY MEMORIAL FELLOWSHIPS
The Kate Neal Kinley Memorial Fellowships provide three major grants (one of approximately $20,000 in any field of music, one of approximately $20,000 in architectural design and history, art and design, theatre, dance, or instrumental or vocal music; and one of approximately $9,000 in art, architecture, dance, landscape architecture, theatre, or urban and regional planning) for advanced study in fine arts in the U.S. or abroad. One or two alternate awards of $1,000 each may be granted upon committee recommendation. The award is for one academic year, non-renewable.
Eligibility: Undergraduate degree in architecture, art, dance, landscape architecture, music, theatre, or urban and regional planning; preferably under 25 years of age, with unusual promise in the Fine Arts.
MARSHALL-MOTLEY SCHOLARS PROGRAM
Named in honor of the legendary civil rights attorney and LDF founder Thurgood Marshall, and iconic civil rights litigator Constance Baker Motley, the Marshall-Motley Scholars Program is a groundbreaking commitment to endow the South with the next generation of civil rights lawyers trained to provide legal advocacy of unparalleled experience. The MMSP supports aspiring lawyers dedicated to pursuing racial justice in the South, and for whom this work is a personal and professional calling. Recipients receive a full law school scholarship (tuition and room/board), participate in summer internships with national and regional civil rights organizations, receive a two-year postgraduate fellowship at civil rights law organizations in the South, and have access to special trainings sponsored by the LDF and the National Academy of Sciences. In return, recipients commit to serving as civil rights lawyers, based in the South and focused on racial justice, for 8 years following the conclusion of their fellowship.
US-IRELAND ALLIANCE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The US-Ireland Alliance Scholarship Program (formerly the Mitchell Scholarship) recognizes outstanding young Americans who exhibit the highest standards of academic excellence, leadership and community service. Administered by the US-Ireland Alliance, a non-partisan, non-profit organization, the scholarship links future American leaders to Ireland via a year of graduate study at an Irish university. ***This scholarship has been on pause since March 2024.***
NCAA SPORTS JOURNALISM SCHOLARSHIPS - THE FREEDOM FORUM
The NCAA Sports Journalism Scholarships - The Freedom Forum is specifically designed to foster freedoms of speech and press while promoting quality sports journalism education at the collegiate level. Apply as a Junior.
NIH OXFORD-CAMBRIDGE SCHOLARS PROGRAM
The NIH Oxford-Cambridge Scholars Program gives recipients the opportunity to work with at least two different research supervisors - one at the NIH and one at either Oxford or Cambridge - on a project that involves a collaborative undertaking by the two laboratories (visit the collaborations page of this web site for further information). Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and hold or be on track to receive a bachelor's degree by matriculation date. The program also attracts individuals already enrolled in a graduate program or medical school. Students carry out research with a goal of earning a Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) which requires spending roughly equal amounts of time at the NIH and at the chosen University.
POINT FOUNDATION: THE NATIONAL LGBTQ SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The Point Foundation: The National LGBTQ Scholarship Fund "was established in 2001 to nurture the next generation of LGBTQ leaders. Point Foundation empowers promising LGBTQ students to achieve their full academic and leadership potential – despite the obstacles often put before them – to make a significant impact on society…Point Scholarships are awarded on a "last provider" basis. Point fills in the gaps and provides funds not provided by other scholarships, grants, loans, work/study programs, etc. It is the responsibility of those selected as Point Scholars to secure as much outside funding as possible."
QUAD FELLOWSHIP
The Quad Fellowship is an initiative of the governments of Australia, India, Japan, and the United States. Announced by the Quad partners on September 24, 2021, this first-of-its-kind scholarship program is designed to build ties among the next generation of scientists and technologists. Schmidt Futures operates the program in consultation with a non-governmental task force composed of academic, foreign policy, and private sector leaders from each Quad country.
This program sponsors 100 exceptional American, Japanese, Australian, and Indian master's and doctoral students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to study in the United States. The fellowship develops a network of science and technology experts committed to advancing innovation and collaboration in the private, public, and academic sectors, in their own nations and among Quad countries. The program builds foundational understanding among Quad Fellows of one another's societies and cultures through cohort-wide trips and robust programming with each country's top scientists, technologists, and politicians.
ROTARY WORLD PEACE FELLOWSHIPS
The Rotary World Peace Fellowships support one to two-year master's degree programs in international relations, peace studies, and conflict resolution at one of six Rotary Centers for International Studies located at prestigious universities around the globe.
SAMVID SCHOLARS
Samvid Ventures offers a new scholarship for future leaders and changemakers, established in 2021. The scholarship provides up to $50,000 in tuition and fees each year for two years of graduate study, in addition to leadership development programming. The goal of the program is to invest in the graduate education of future leaders who are committed to effecting positive change in society.
THOMAS PICKERING FOREIGN AFFAIRS FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
The Thomas Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship Program offers both undergraduates and graduates financial support, mentoring and professional development to prepare them academically and professionally for a career in the U.S. Department of State Foreign Service. Women, members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service, and students with financial needs are encouraged to apply.
