AMERICAN-SCANDANAVIAN FOUNDATION AWARDS
The American-Scandanavian Foundation Awards offers fellowships (up to $20,000) and grants (normally $4,000) to individuals to pursue research or study in one or more Scandinavian countries for up to one year. Awards are made in all fields. Applicants must have a well-defined research or study project that makes a stay in Scandinavia essential. Eligibility: Graduating seniors (or graduates); U.S. citizenship; some ability with the language of the host country.
BANYAN NEXT GENERATION HEALERS SCHOLARSHIP
Banyan Treatment Centers offers the Next Generation Healers Scholarship for working students who are enrolled in a degree program in nursing, social work, psychology, healthcare administration, or any related field. Applicants must be currently employed while pursuing their degree. Each award, offered bi-annually, grants $1,000 to use toward school expenses.
DAVID L. BOREN GRADUATE FELLOWSHIPS
The David L. Boren Graduate Fellowships support students pursuing the study of languages, cultures, and world regions that are critical to U.S. national security but are less frequently studied by U.S. graduate students, i.e., areas of the world other than Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Award: a minimum of one and a maximum of six academic semesters (24 months). Fellowships provide support for overseas or domestic study or a combination of both. Service requirement.
MARGARET A. DAVIDSON GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP
Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR) in New Hampshire, along with all other NERRs around the country, offers a two-year Graduate Fellowship position, the Margaret A. Davidson Fellowship. This Fellowship is designed to help Great Bay address a research need with management application, while providing the student with multidisciplinary research, professional development, networking, and mentoring opportunities. The New Hampshire Sea Grant (NHSG) Graduate Fellowship provides fellowship funding to support graduate students working in areas related to NHSG's Strategic Plan Focus Areas:
- Healthy Coastal Ecosystems
- Resilient Communities and Economies
- Environmental Literacy and Workforce Development
- Sustainable Fisheries and Aquaculture
The Sea Grant Knauss Fellowship provides a unique educational and professional experience to graduate students who have an interest in ocean, coastal and Great Lakes resources and in the national policy decisions affecting those resources. The Fellowship, named after one of Sea Grant's founders, former NOAA Administrator, John A. Knauss, matches highly qualified graduate students with "hosts" in the legislative and executive branch of government located in the Washington, D.C. area, for a one-year paid fellowship.
The NOAA Coastal Management Fellowship was established to provide on-the-job education and training opportunities in coastal resource management and policy for postgraduate students and to provide project assistance to state coastal zone management programs. The program matches postgraduate students with state coastal zone programs to work on projects proposed by the state and selected by the fellowship sponsor, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office for Coastal Management.
The NMFS-Sea Grant Joint Fellowship Program in Population and Ecosystem Dynamics and Marine Resource Economics is designed to help Sea Grant fulfill its broad educational responsibilities and to strengthen the collaboration between Sea Grant and the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS). Sea Grant and NMFS partner to train students through this joint fellowship program in two specialized areas (which are actually two distinct fellowship tracks):
- Population and Ecosystem Dynamics Fellowship: Ph.D. students interested in the population and ecosystem dynamics of living marine resources and the development and implementation of quantitative methods for assessing their status
- Marine Resource Economics Fellowship: Ph.D. students concentrating in marine resource economics, natural resource economics, or environmental economics
NIH/PHD PARTNERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM
The NIH/PhD Partnership Training Program accommodates students seeking combined MD/PhD training as the pathway to a career as a physician-scientist. Students admitted to NIH MD/PhD Partnership Training Program conduct research in the NIH intramural research program as part of a coordinated plan of dual-degree training with a U.S. medical school in preparation for a career as a physician-investigator in basic or translational science.
UNESCO INTERNSHIPS
The UNESCO Internship Program offers practical work in one of UNESCO's priority areas. Placements aim to help understand the Organization's mandate, programs, and main thrusts. It also enhances academic knowledge with work assignments relevant to future career goals.
