Fulbright Study/Research

About the Scholarship

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers students and young professionals opportunities to undertake international graduate study, advanced research, English teaching, or artistic endeavors abroad. The program currently awards approximately 1,100 grants annually in all fields of study, and operates in more than 140 countries.

The Fulbright Study/Research is the traditional award opportunity where a candidate designs a research or graduate study proposal for a specific country. They will typically work with advisers at foreign universities or other institutes of higher education. Program requirements vary by country.

Eligibility

Current Dartmouth undergraduates and graduate students should apply through Dartmouth College. Alumni may apply through Dartmouth to benefit from feedback on applications.  Applicants must:

  • be a U.S. Citizen
  • hold a B.A. degree or the equivalent before the start of the grant
  • meet all of the requirements of the specific grant and country to which you are applying, as specified on the Fulbright website for each award

Other education eligibility requirements might apply.

Application Process

Dartmouth's Fulbright Application process is designed to provide applicants feedback throughout the application process.

To begin, read the Fulbright Fellowship website carefully. Individual countries have different priorities, candidate profiles, and specific details. Use your research to decide which type of Fulbright (research, graduate study, creative arts, specialized program) and to which country you wish to apply.

Next, familiarize yourself with Dartmouth's Fulbright Application Process, including the First Step Form. This information can be found on our Canvas site.
