Lafayette Fellowship

About the Fellowship

The Lafayette Fellowship was designed to foster a strong transatlantic relationship in the next generation of young leaders by funding one year of master's-level study in France. The program partners with leading French academic institutions with courses taught in French or entirely in English.

Fellows receive:

  • A €1,500 monthly stipend to cover living expenses
  • Tuition for one year at a partner institution for eligible programs
  • Application Fee waivers for French academic institutions and master's programs
  • Student Visa fee waivers for one academic year
  • A round-trip flight to and from France
  • Admittance to the French-American Leadership Program (which is an immersive year-long series of lectures, masterclasses, site visits, and mentorship)
  • Coverage of travel and activities costs related to the French-American Leadership Program

Eligibility

To apply for a Lafayette Fellowship, you must:

  • Have a bachelor's degree
  • Be 27 years old or younger
  • GPA of 3.7 or higher
  • Meet all criteria of the selected program at one of the parter institution

Application Process

Applications for the Lafayette Fellowship must be submitted directly to the Lafayette Fellowship online portal.

Applicants will need to include:

  • Proof of Eligibility
  • Education History
  • Transcript(s)
  • CV
  • Cover Letter
  • Video Personal Statement
  • Either 3 or 4 letters of recommendation (two must be academic and one must be extracurricular)
  • French language certificates (if applying to a program taught in french)
