Is there an attendance requirement for group tutoring?
No, attendance is voluntary.
We encourage regular attendance beginning early in the term because each tutoring group is a learning community. Within each community, it is important that members participate regularly. All students understand different aspects of the material and so all contribute to the overall learning within the group by sharing their perspectives. Each session builds upon the previous sessions to create the collaborative learning environment. Consistency is an important component of your participation in group tutoring, but we understand that life is busy and we want to respect that. Tutors record attendance at their sessions for programmatic assessment purposes, but there is no penalty for non-attendance.
