DPCS Philadelphia Poverty Alleviation Internship

DPCS Philadelphia Poverty Alleviation Cohort Internships are partnered internships developed by the Dartmouth Center for Social Impact. We work with vetted, innovative nonprofits to design robust impactful internships.

Philadelphia Poverty Alleviation Internships introduce students to the distinctive ways one of America's most historic cities is responding to its evolving social needs. Philadelphia nonprofits are greatly influenced by the city's motto of Brotherly Love, which is reflected in their mission to make the city more inclusive and livable for all. The internships are generously supported by Dartmouth Partners in Community Service (DPCS).

About the Program

  • 10-week full-time summer internship (June 22 – August 28* these dates are tentative and are subject to change)
  • Interns are provided a stipend that helps offset summer living costs
  • Interns are matched with an alumni mentor through DPCS
  • Regular professional development programming

Housing and Living Stipends

For our cohort internship program, DCSI coordinates and pays for student housing. The housing in Philadelphia is apartment-style with shared bedrooms and bathrooms.

Because DCSI pays for housing, the stipend check you receive is for your transportation from Dartmouth to your internship site, as well as living expenses during your internship such as groceries and public transportation. The estimated stipend amount for the Philadelphia cohort is $2,000.
